SalzburgThe hills are alive with the sound of music.... and Mozart! Salzburg was Mozart's birthplace and the city continues to pay homage to the great composer in many ways, including chocolate Mozart balls. Salzburg's love of music is evident, spanning beyond Mozart and Julie Andrews, with the annual Salzburg Festival. The event is a prominent festival of music and drama held over a five week period each summer. Walking through Salzburg's charming old town you can't help but notice the intricate iron signs that decorate the streets. Each sign provides a visual representation the goods sold by each shop owner, dating back to a time when a majority of the population did not read.
