Day 13
We started our day out early, getting acquainted with Vienna and the Habsburg family with the help of our local tour guide. We were able to view St. Stephen's Cathedral, Maria-Theresien-Platz, Hofburg Palace and the Vienna State Opera during our city stroll. We took time to break and enjoy the experience of a Viennese cafe before heading to the Kunsthistorisches Museum. At the museum our local guide directed us towards the most famous art pieces, providing us with the history behind the art and expanding our appreciation of each piece we viewed.
We split from our group later that morning and continued to tour the Kunsthistorisches Museum on our own, taking in lunch at the museum cafe. After leaving the Kunsthitorisches Museum we moved on to the Albertina to take in their Monet bis Picasso exhibit to take in some expressionist artwork. Heading back towards our hotel we stopped in at another local Viennese cafe, then explored the small store fronts around our hotel before preparing for our last group dinner.
The dinner we shared together that night was wonderful, filled with Austrian wine, conversation and heart felt goodbyes. That night our conversations lingered beyond dinner into the lobby of our hotel, everyone knowing that our tour had finally come to an end and this would be our last night to spend together. We spent time gathering everyone's signature in our guidebook to keep as a memento of our amazing experience before returning to our room.
