Day 10
Our first morning in Salzburg began with a guided tour of the city with Brigitta, followed by Austrian cafes and free time to explore the city. Later that night we had dinner at a traditional restaurant before taking in a Mozart concert at Hohensalzburg Fortress.
Brigitta provided our group with a look into Salzburg's history, leading us through the new and old towns of Salzburg. We were able view Mozart's birthplace, Salzburg's Cathedral and the Mirabell Gardens. Bonus, we got to try an original Mozart ball!
After our tour ended we took to the streets of Salzburg on our own, hiking to the Hohensalzburg Fortress for commanding views of the city and returning to the Mirabell Gardens for a few Sound of Music reenactment photos! We visited St. Peter's Cemetery, the oldest bakery in Salzburg and a few cafes. Included in the cafe list was Cafe Tomaselli, the cafe Mozart and his father used to frequent.
After a busy day around the city we took in dinner at a traditional Austrian restaurant followed by a concert at the Hohensalzburg Fortress presenting Mozart's famous compositions. That night we tucked ourselves in bed to prepare for our early departure, heading to Austria's lake country and our destination, Hallstatt.
