Our Story
Our journey to this moment actually began three years ago when we made the decision to give up cable television, because we were tired of the cost and would rather be putting our money elsewhere...like towards our Rick Steve's The Best of Germany, Austria and Switzerland tour! With cable out of our lives we found ourselves with a tiny antenna and about 15 channels...that is when we first met our friend Rick Steves. Watching Rick Steves travel through Europe became our bedtime ritual and every night we would find ourselves saying "that looks so fun", "look how beautiful that is" and "wouldn't it be so fun to go there". After endless episodes of Rick Steves' Europe we finally decided that we wanted to go to Germany, so we wandered down to our friendly neighborhood bookstore to get a Rick Steves' guidebook. We started doing our research and quickly became overwhelmed with all of the decisions. At that point we wandered onto Rick Steves' website were we discovered that Rick Steves not only had guidebooks and a TV show but he had TOURS! We spent a few weeks mulling and finally decided to book The Best of Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 14 Days. After many months of dreaming and planning we started the long trek from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Trier, Germany. When we finally reached our destination we could truthfully say that our travels including planes, trains and automobiles...as well as over 24 hours without sleep! We checked into our first hotel, grabbed our guidebook and began exploring Trier on our own. The next day we continued our independent explorations before meeting up with our travel companions for the first time that afternoon...from there we began the trip of a lifetime, filled with people and memories we will never forget. Please enjoy The Best of Germany, Austria and Switzerland through our eyes, using the links above or the buttons below to explore our travels 'through the back door' of each country!
Happy Traveling!
